Biyama

A few days after we arrived in Abidjan from England, both of our children fell ill due to a viral infection. We took our children to PISAM and Dr. Allico attended to them.

We found Dr. Allico to be very professional, gentle with the children and patient with our basic French at that time. PISAM has a translator and some staff who speak good English, which we found to be really helpful. 

Our daughter was hospitalised for a few days due to the viral infection. Traumatic as the experience was, we felt the care service at PISAM was of a good standard and we have continued to use PISAM to date for all our medical needs as a family. We also find it useful that PISAM has a wide range of medical facilities and services.

Our son was seen within 2 minutes of arriving at the accident and emergency (A&E) unit, and the treatment was excellent.

Our daughter required a podiatrist for an infection, treatment lasted over several weeks with six (6) visits. The doctor was fantastic! She was very thorough, very warm and fun to children. The service also ran on time.

We have become fond of staff at the pediatric section of the hospital. The waiting time at the hospital varies, sometimes we have had very short waiting times, and othertimes we have had long waiting times.

We have also observed that doctors generally over prescribe medication in comparison to doctors in the United Kingdom (UK), but we always ask questions about medication and make informed decisions in the end. Another observation worth noting is that the facilities in PISAM are quite dated.
